Midland Pallet Trucks, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of pallet and pump trucks to a wide range of sectors, has welcomed Amazon’s announcement that it plans to create an additional 1000 permanent jobs in the UK this year. Following on from their announcement earlier in 2016 that they were to bring 2500 jobs to the country, this will take their total number of employees to around 15,500 – across their offices.
Creating thousands of new jobs to cope with rise in demand and to enable them to continue offering the premier service that has kept them at the forefront of online shopping for over a decade, the jobs will mainly be spread across their premises in London, Cambridge, Leicestershire, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Championing the move, which will provide a much-needed boost to the UK’s jobs market, Phil Chesworth Director of Midland Pallet Trucks, said, “There’s no denying that Amazon is a true global shopping giant, so it’s excellent news for the UK that they are to bring yet more jobs to our shores. Since the Referendum, the retail industry has very sombre, however the fact that a global company is investing so heavily in the UK is certain to bring relief to retailers up and down the country.”
The announcement comes as the online shopping giant is ready to celebrate one year of its industry-defining, Prime Now. Offering consumers the option to get their goods within the hour, the system has revolutionised online shopping forever.
Set to take on people from a wide range of sectors, including software engineers, computer programmers and corporate managers in their R&D centres and head office, as well as operations managers, engineers, service technicians, HR personnel and order fulfilment workers, the jobs will aid with the festive orders season and beyond.
