What will pallet trucks need to do in the future?
In a world that’s constantly changing in order to meet consumer demand for a 24/7 order to delivery service, an increased need for pallet trucks to be as efficient and reliable as ever means that evolution of equipment will be required.
This doesn’t necessarily mean complete automation and absence of human input, but they simply need to function for as long as possible without recharging and be as resilient as possible in environments ranging from the freezing cold storage to stacking tasks outdoors.
How will they achieve this?
New iterations of pallet trucks need to consider that the planet is heading towards a carbon neutral state within the next two decades.
With this in mind, it seems as though electrically-powered pallet trucks are going to be the future, with expected advancements in solar energy storage likely to see pallet trucks use this to power onboard batteries – removing the need to swap them out for new ones.
The pursuit of lighter and more durable trucks without compromising on performance is also likely to be a focus for pallet truck makers, and it will be interesting to see how far current designs can be optimised in relation to size and weight.
Adaptable and reliable
With less noise and reduced pollution from petrol and diesel pallet trucks in warehouses across the world, it’s hoped that eco-friendly pallet trucks will continue to adapt to ever rising shelves and narrower aisles to meet the needs of businesses around the world.
By offering a wide range of product choice each carrying reduced maintenance costs, it would appear that electric or solar-powered pallet trucks are the way forward for dynamic warehousing storage solutions.
