This June London’s ExCeL convention centre will host the annual Safety & Health Expo, where working at height will receive ample attention from key exhibitors. With an increasing number of employees carrying out tasks at elevation, Midland Pallet Trucks is urging British businesses to invest in high-quality, safe and secure aerial work platforms.

Phil Chesworth, Managing Director of Midland Pallet Trucks, says, “Far too many workplaces underestimate the magnitude of best practice when working at height. It’s great to see the industry shining the spotlight on the issue and taking steps to ensure that employees enjoy the safe and responsible workplaces they deserve.”

Health and safety is becoming an increasing concern in British workplaces, with high profile events such as the Safety & Health Expo attracting exhibitors and attendees from across the nation. This year’s event will feature over 350 exhibitors and is predicted to pull over 15,000 attendees. The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) and the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) play an integral role in choosing key areas of focus. This year aerial labour will be highlighted as a major topic, with an emphasis on promoting the upcoming launch of SG4:15, the official ‘core safety guidance’ directive for work at height. Throughout the event representatives from the NASC and CISRS will be on-hand to discuss issues, risks, best practice, industry guidelines and publications.

As well as understanding the latest industry guidelines for working at height, Midland Pallet Trucks is urging all site managers to back up their knowledge with the right safety equipment. Designed to assist workers in elevating objects without triggering any health and safety risks, aerial work platforms are an astute addition to any factory, warehouse, depository or other goods oriented workplace.

Midland Pallet Trucks currently stocks a range of aerial work platforms and lifts to suit a variety of needs. Available with 1.7 metre, 2.5 metre and 3 metre lift heights and 240 kg capacity, the range of MJCPT Mobile Aerial Work Platform models represent an economical solution for safely working at height. Elevation can be adjusted at the touch of a button which makes them far more versatile than conventional mobile towers. Levelling indicator and outriggers ensure streamlined operation while emergency down and stop buttons allow for rapid response in a crisis. From warehouses and shopping centres to hospitals and schools, the MJCPT Mobile Aerial Work Platforms are ideal for carrying out maintenance, elevating goods and completing any other task that involves working from height.

The Safety & Health Expo will be held at London’s ExCeL convention centre from June 16-18.
