The latest Experian Insolvency Index may have cast a bit of a shadow over the Midlands in terms of the number of businesses struggling to survive but one West Midlands firm is celebrating bucking the trend.
Midland Pallet Trucks, wholesale suppliers of pallet trucks and other materials handling equipment, has announced a second ambitious expansion project, just a few months after confirming the creation of new jobs and increase in warehousing space.
At the start of 2011, the pallet trucks retailer occupied 40,000 square foot of space. In March, the Kingswinford based company took over an additional bay, expanding its warehouse and stockroom facilities to 50,000 square feet and creating a number of new jobs in the local area.
Today, an additional 10,000 square feet has been added on, meaning Midland Pallet Trucks now occupies 60,000 square feet. With this growth comes the creation of a number of new positions within the company, all of which are expected to be filled by candidates from Kingswinford and neighbouring towns.
Phil Chesworth, managing director of parent company, Midland Bearings Ltd said, “Our continued growth can be put down to us having an excellent, hardworking multi-skilled team and no bank borrowings which gives the company a firm footing.”
The addition of a sixth bay comes hot on the heels of an exciting couple of months for Midland Pallet Trucks. It has just added a number of new products to its offering, including three types of electric lift tables. Several new pallet trucks have also been introduced in recent months, including a budget pallet truck designed specifically for smaller businesses with more modest pallet handling needs and two new weighing scale pallet trucks.
All products supplied by the firm are held in stock in the West Midlands warehouse for immediate shipping to any part of the UK.
